Andrea Glenn - Honey Sommelier

In 2024, after completing her level III training in Italy, Andrea was admitted to the renowned Italian National Register of Experts in the Sensory Analysis of Honey— one of the first three Canadians and the only Ontarian to earn this prestigious designation, she passed the final exam with the highest score in her cohort of 20 international candidates. Andrea is at the forefront of the field in Canada, blending local knowledge with international expertise.
Honey is a time capsule of the season. A perfect snapshot of an environment, its flavours varying as dramatically as wine, olive oil, coffee or chocolate, reflecting the terroir and features of an area. Honey offers a literal taste of place that can connect us to our local landscape. Its flavour is a fingerprint that perfectly reflects our natural world.
For too long, honey has been treated as a commodity—something that comes in a plastic bear—but it’s truly a luxury product. A single bee only produces 1/10 of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime. Sadly, honey is the third most adulterated food worldwide, with 20% of honey on Canadian shelves being fraudulent. Andrea is committed to restoring the authenticity and provenance of honey through her work, guiding consumers to recognize and develop a preference for high-quality, raw honey.
